Importance of Legal Aid:

The Legal aid for those who cannot afford other means of access to justice has therefore become an essential component in the element of developed societies. However, financial crisis,rates if globalization and changes in government and changes in government and look cross the global have provided a range of pressures on all public spending including the provision of legal aid.

Object of Legal Aid:

1. To ensure equal justice to all.
2. To give free legal advice to the weaker section of the society
3. The need for legal assistance to be readily available and easily accessible to deserving persin.
4. To spread legal literacy amongst the citizens of India, espically , the weak, down-trodden and poor, irrespective of race ,caste ,sex,color or creed;
5. To arrange legal aid camps to settle disputes amicablyamongst the citizens of India and set up alternative methods of redress of grievances , espically, by voluntary consent of the adversary parties

Social Justice and upliftment of downtrodden people is a concern of modern India.Students must get a practical taste of reality and law , with this prespective, The New Law College Pune, has inaugurated the Legal Aid Cell at the auspicious hands of Hon'ble Mr. Justice Altamas Kabir , then Chief Justice of India on 18th February , 2006.
